The 2012 CDC National Cancer Conference themed “Uniting Systems, Policy & Practice in Cancer Prevention and Control,” reinforces and reflects the need to: explore the implications of a changing health system on cancer prevention and control and discuss how to prepare and maximize opportunities; discuss impact of disparities on access and quality of cancer prevention and control with a focus on innovative systems and policies to reduce disparities; share the newest innovations in research and technology regarding cancer prevention, treatment, care and survivorship; highlight global cancer initiatives and discuss how domestic organizations can benefit from and contribute to meeting global needs; discuss cancer prevention topics with a focus on primary prevention; and finally, discuss and identify how to effectively address cancer survivorship across the continuum.
